Less Stress & Anxiety, More Focus and Relaxation

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder and Specific Phobia can be debilitating.  As the anxiety takes over, we begin to feel a sense of unease, distress, panic, fear, problems sleeping, an inability to be still and calm, and a general sense of chronic stress.

The exact cause of anxiety disorders is unknown; but anxiety disorders–like other forms of mental illness– are not the result of personal weakness, a character flaw, or poor upbringing.

A combination of factors, including changes in the brain and environmental stress can contribute to anxiety.

Why Neurofeedback can Help

Like other brain illnesses, anxiety disorders may be caused by problems in the functioning of the brain circuits that regulate fear and other emotions.

Neurofeedback addresses the issue at the heart or, “brain,” of the matter by re-training the brain to improve its functioning.  Through training, the brain learns to relax and optimize its functioning to increase mental focus, calmness, relaxation, and attentiveness.

The brain receives real time feedback and is alerted when it begins to “go down the rabbit hole,” or begins to engage in anxious thoughts.  As it receives this feedback, it self-adjusts to a more optimal state of functioning, and over time, this begins to translate into your everyday life, thus reducing your overall sense of anxiety.

One of the many benefits of neurofeeback are stress-reduction and relaxation.  When the brain is trained with NeurOptimal® neurofeedback, clients may notice the following:  feeling calmer, increased mental clarity and focus, dropping away of fears, more appropriate response to situations, feeling lighter and greater ease and increased motivation and ability to accomplish tasks.
